We've had a little mid winter festival here in sleepy Hobart this last week. Actually, it wasn't little at all, Dark Mofo was huge. The highlight was the Winter Feast, three nights of food, fire and fun. I was working with the Gourmet Farmer helping cook delicious food from his farm so I think I only had 20 minutes free time in all to run around and quickly shoot these snaps.
Matthew also asked me to style his stall so I had loads of fun borrowing props and making 4 metres of stainless steel benches look suitably rustic.
But the fun really began once the doors opened at 4pm. I don't think anyone quite expected the crowds that came. It was mental. The queues were massive. We got hammered. It was crazy town! At times we were selling three buns a minute. We sold out early every night. I loved to see Hobart town embrace this festival, despite the midwinter chill. Vicki Frost from the Guardian has written a well rounded review here. Worth a read to get the whole magnificent story.
I wish I had time to see and taste some more. But for me, the event was about celebrating winter by cooking good food, working hard with good friends and sipping heart warming whiskey. And dear reader, there is nothing crazy about that.
