"Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing — absolute nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing... about in boats — or with boats. In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it. Whether you get away, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much better not. "
Sunday evening, midsummer, launching a rowboat on a friend's pond. I think Ratty says it all really.
Between Ratty's words and your blissful images, I feel like I've been on a little holiday. x
ReplyDeleteI had a taste of just being in a little boat recently in Tassie. We sailed out with some packed breakfast and made coffee and just took in the derwent. I could see the charm in doing that every weekend or every chance you get. I say do it more often, it looks like you guys had a wonderfully laid back time, nice to see.
ReplyDeleteBliss.

ps Love elsa's hat.
Aw, bless. I had to stop and read this out loud to my husband. He read me Wind in the Willows back in our early days. Beautiful pairing of photos and images, a reminder that we must spend some time simply messing (that is, if the rain ever stops!).
